Day #1 Wed., November 10th: 7:30 AM - Meet your escort at Peoria Charter Coach Waiting Room at the corner of NE Adams & Alexander Streets. (Enter off Alexander) 7:45 AM - Depart Peoria headed east towards Middletown, Ohio historic Manchester Inn*. Well make rest & meal stops en route as needed. Dont forget to set your watches ahead an hour upon entering Indiana and the Eastern Time Zone. 4:00 PM - Arriving in Middletown, we check into our home for the next 2 nights the Manchester Inn. Over the past eight decades this hotel has hosted European royalty, Presidents, foreign leaders, entertainers and sports celebrities. The Inn offers you the beauty and ambiance that is synonymous with hospitality. Youll have time to freshen up and get ready for the Ball tonight. Dress will be dressy/casual tonight. 6:00 PM - Tonight youll enjoy dance lessons and for those non-dancers, you can enjoy the open bar from 6 6:45 p.m. 7:00 PM - Sit down to a deluxe two entrée buffet* with tossed salad, pasta salad, Chicken Almandine, Burgundy Beef Tips, Redskin Potatoes, Green Beans, Rolls, Chefs choice of desserts, coffee and tea are included as well. The bar becomes a cash bar at this time. 8:15 PM - Enjoy the Bob Gray Orchestra and some Ballroom Dancing*. Bob Gray Orchestra is a nationally touring show & dance orchestra featuring an exciting and entertaining "Las Vegas" style show. The group performs a wide variety of music ranging from the original "Big Band" arrangements of the Swing Era to Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw Swing, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Foxtrot and more. (Dance partners will be available). 10:00 PM - Time to head to our rooms for the night. Day #2 Thurs., November 11th: "Happy Veterans Day" 7:00 AM - Begin the morning with a Deluxe Continental Breakfast* with various hot items. 8:00 AM - Lets board the coach and depart for Cincinnati this morning. 8:20 AM - Enjoy a "Private Morning at the new EnterTRAINment Junction* complete with Entertainment! From the music of the train era to the history of train travel and how it impacted America, guests will be enthralled with the sights, sounds, and over 100 miles of track!! Can you hear the whistle blow?? Is someone in the kitchen with Dinah? Have you been working on the Railroad? Coffee & morning sweets are included*. 9:50 AM - Next were off to the "Voice of America"*. This facility was the first and only station the Voice of America constructed that was powerful enough to broadcast to virtually the entire world. The station operated continuously from 1944 until it was decommissioned in 1995. Only the advancement of satellite technology was able to still its powerful voice. So hated was the Voice of America, the governments of foreign countries did everything in their power to jam, disrupt or interfere with the messages being transmitted to its citizens. Hitler referred to the VOA as "those Cincinnati Liars." (10:00 11:00 AM) 11:00 AM - Its time to depart for Newport, Kentucky. 11:30 AM - We arrive at the Newport Syndicate offering a Deluxe Buffet dining experience* and history galore. Local gambler, Pete Schmidt built the Glenn Schmidt Playtorium in the early 1950s, naming it after his father, also an illegal casino owner. It was a combination restaurant, cocktail lounge, and the Cincinnati areas first automated bowling alley. But it also had an illegal basement casino. When local law enforcement began to crack down on illegal gambling, Schmidt built a separate building next door it was easier to flee during a raid from ground level than from a basement. It was noted for its hidden back rooms, fake walls and supposedly a tunnel system to the Ohio River. Schmidt played host to the "Rat Pack, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and other notables. There will also be a gift mart for shopping at this show. Various boutiques offering a wide variety of items will be present. 1:15 PM - Following lunch, enjoy the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band Tribute in full authentic WWII Uniforms*. Enlisting in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Glenn Miller formed one of the greatest military bands of all times which entertained thousands of soldiers in the U.S., England, and France. Major Glenn Miller paid the ultimate sacrifice when he was lost over the English Channel in a plane traveling to France to prepare for performances. His music continues to touch the hearts of millions of people around the world. A special performance will be made by The Swingin Sweethearts as The Andrews Sisters. 2:30 PM - Next, well walk across the street to the World Peace Bell*. A special tribute for the Veterans will be made and youll hear the Worlds Largest Bell toll five times .. once for each branch of the military. Join in as guests raise their flags as the Color Guard render honors while the national anthem is sung. Join in for "Let There Be Peace on Earth" as a grand finale as we honor the many men & women who have served our country with honor & pride and their lives. 3:30 PM - We depart for the hotel to have time to freshen up for tonights event a Sock Hop! Bring your best 50s & 60s attire as there will be prizes for the best dressed people. 6:15 PM - Weve donned our poodle skirts and blouses, leather jackets, t-shirts & Brylcream to smooth back our "ducktail". 6:30 PM - Dinner* consists of burgers, fries, Cole Slaw, banana splits and fun for all. This is an interactive evening ..guests can jump, jitter bug and jive or sit back and listen to the band perform the music of yesterday. 8:00 PM - One, Two, Three OClock Rock a salute to the fifties and sixties musical revue. Remember those glory days of rock & roll when youd go out on a date with your car radio blasting the latest doo-wop sounds from New ersey, surf music from California, or the cool tunes from New York Citys Brill Bldg? Remember when AM Top Forty was king? Enjoy the sounds that were on your old 45s, The King of Rock & Roll, the doo-wop beat, do the twist with Chubby Checker and the Stroll jump & jive, jitterbug or sit back & remember the with a live band complete with dinner, hula hoops and prizes for the best dressed, the best socks and the best jitter bug dancers! 10:00 PM - Return to the hotel for the evening. Day #3 Fri., November 12th: 7:30 AM - Full Hot Breakfast* at hotel. 8:30 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart for the short drive to Wright Patterson. 9:15 AM - Our docent will meet us and welcome us at Wright Patterson Air Force Museum*. Well be escorted to the Presidential Airplane Hanger where youll be able to tour* over 50 planes including Air Force One & JFKs Plane (there are three that you can actually walk on & tour). This attraction does have steps and youll need a picture I.D. 10:30 AM - Next well visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force* in Dayton. The largest of its type in the world, this newly enlarged facility traces the history of flight from early ballooning to space travel. Included in its exhibits are U.S. and foreign military planes, space capsules, and early Presidential planes. There is also a cafeteria and large gift shop located here. Lunch will be on your own while here. 12:30 PM - Its time to begin our journey home making break stops along the way for rest and meals as needed. Dont forget to change your watches back an hour upon entering Illinois & the Central Time Zone. 6:30 PM - Approximate return time to Peoria.
