Day #1 – Wednesday, November 10th: 6:00 AM - We depart Peoria on our journey to our Nation’s Capital – Washington D.C. Enjoy a Continental Breakfast* aboard the coach as we travel. We’ll make rest & meal stops as needed to our first overnight stop. Note: Don’t forget to set your watches ahead an hour as we enter the Eastern Time Zone. 5:00 PM - Our overnight stop will be at the Courtyard by Marriott – Columbus Airport*. We’ll get checked in and you’ll have a little time to freshen up before dinner & entertainment. 6:00 PM - Dinner* is served in one of the meeting rooms here at the hotel. Following dinner, you’ll enjoy a 1/2 hour performance by the Test of Time* Singers. They perform tunes in a barbershop quartet fashion. Day #2 – Thursday, November 11th: Breakfast* is served at the hotel prior to checking out and departing to our next overnight stop. 7:30 PM - We’ve got a short drive to Cumberland, Maryland for our next overnight stop. We’ll make break stops as needed along the route. 1:00 PM - Arriving in Cumberland, we’ll have an afternoon of activities to keep you busy. We’ll have a local person with us for 3 hours of touring the Old Church complete with singer and a tour of the old tollhouse. 5:00 PM - Its time to check into our home for the evening – the Fairfield Inn*. You’ll have time to freshen up before we strike out for dinner on your own. Day #3 – Friday, November 12th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel this morning. 9:00 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart for our destination – WashingtonD.C. 11:30 AM - We make our way to the Madison Bldg. where you can enjoy lunch on your own before we meet our Step-on guide* for an afternoon of touring*. We’re trying to schedule a tour of the U.S. Capitol Bldg. through our Congressman. You will visit the U.S. Library of Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court Bldg., and tour the outside of the Capitol (if we can’t get a scheduled tour). PM - Dinner* is included this evening at the Brio Tuscan Grille. This Italian meal is a 5-course chef-led meal. The chef will talk about each item you will be eating as well as offering cooking tips. PM - Following dinner we’re off to our suburb hotel for the next 2 nights – the Springhill Suites* - near Dulles Airport. While the luggage is being delivered to your rooms, you’ll enjoy a Wine & Cheese Reception* in the lobby. Day #4 – Saturday, November 13th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel. We are trying to schedule our group in for a tour of the White House but won’t know about this until 2 weeks prior to departure so please make sure you’re joining us for other attractions on this tour. We won’t be able to refund you if you decide not to go because of not getting the White House tour. You’ll enjoy a full day at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show. We’ve reserved seating for a Cooking Demonstration with Paula Deen. You’ll find other live Cooking Demonstrations throughout the Convention Center as well as tastings & exhibits from hundreds of culinary suppliers. In addition visit the fun & informative Tasting & Entertaining Workshops to help you improve your cooking & entertaining skills. Dinner* is included this evening at the Rock Bottom Brewery before heading back to the hotel for the evening. Day #5 – Sunday, November 14th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel. This morning we will visit the White House Visitor’s Center and stop for a White House "photo op". (This is pending we don’t tour on Saturday and would’ve already done this). We’ll also enjoy a Guided Tour* of the Monuments including Iwo Jima, Vietnam, Lincoln, & Korean Memorials. Lunch* is included at Thunder Grill in Union Station. Noon - It’s time to say "Goodbye" to our guide and depart for our final overnight stop in Wheeling, WV. We’ll make a break stop along the way. 5:00 PM - We arrive at Oglebay-Resort*, check in and have a little time to freshen up before our evening dinner, show and light display. 9:30 PM - Approximate time back in your room. Day #6 – Monday, November 15th: Breakfast* is included at the resort. 8:00 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart towards home taking with us many memories of our times together exchanging cooking ideas and recipes. We’ll make rest & meal stops along the way as needed. Note: Don’t forget to set your watches back an hour as you re-enter the Central Time Zone. 6:30 PM - Approximate arrival time back in Peoria. We suggest $3 per customer per day for the driver and $3 per customer per day for the escort(s) on this trip.
